Let's get you protected

Most setup problems are one of a handful of things, and all of them are below. We answer email in one to two business days, which is honest but slow — so if it is late and you are trying to get the shield up tonight, start here rather than waiting on us.

Setting up on your phone

iPhone and iPad

  1. 1Install NurGuard from the App Store and sign in with your email — there is no password, just a one-time code.
  2. 2Tap "Turn on the shield" and approve the filter permission when iOS asks. This is the one that does the blocking; without it nothing is filtered.
  3. 3Choose the apps that pull at you. The Niyyah Gate pauses you before each one opens.
  4. 4Optional: set how often each app can be opened, and let NurGuard know your location once if you want your sacred hours timed to prayer rather than guessed from a timezone.

Android

  1. 1Install NurGuard from Google Play and sign in with your email — a one-time code, no password.
  2. 2Tap "Turn on the shield" and accept the VPN prompt. Android calls it a VPN; it is the local filter, and nothing is routed anywhere for us to read.
  3. 3Set up the Niyyah Gate: find "NurGuard Shield — App Monitor" in the accessibility list, turn it On, then tap Allow.
  4. 4Choose the apps the gate should pause you before.

When something isn't working

The accessibility switch is greyed out and says "Restricted setting"

Android does this to any app installed from outside Play, and sometimes after a Play install too. Tap the ⋮ menu at the top right of that settings screen, choose "Allow restricted settings", then turn the switch on. It is an Android safeguard, not a fault in your phone.

The shield says it is on but a site still loads

Two likely reasons, and both are honest limits rather than bugs. The filter works on domains, so a site we do not have on a list will resolve — send it to us and it gets reviewed. And on a laptop we only cover the browser the extension is installed in; another browser on the same machine is not protected.

Nothing is blocked on my laptop

Desktop protection is a Chrome or Edge extension, and it only guards the browser you installed it in. There is no system-wide desktop app yet, and we would rather say that than let you believe the machine is covered.

I turned my phone off and on and the filter did not come back

Open the app once — the filter re-arms from there. If it does not, sign out and back in before reinstalling; reinstalling loses nothing, but signing in again is faster.

How do I sign in?

NurGuard is passwordless. Enter your email and we send a one-time code. If it has not arrived in a couple of minutes, check spam, then try again — a fresh code invalidates the old one.

Want the full map of what the shield reaches and what it cannot? It is on the home page, limits included.

Households and young people

My child never got their family code

Codes are not emailed — you read it to them. Generate it in your household dashboard, and it works once, within 48 hours. We only ever store a hash of it, so we genuinely cannot show it to you a second time. Generate a new one instead; that invalidates the old.

It will not accept my child’s date of birth

Managed profiles are for ages 13 to 17. Under 13 we cannot hold an account for a child at all, and over 17 they need their own — which is free. There is more detail on the family page.

Can I see what my child has been looking at?

No, and this is deliberate rather than unfinished. You can see whether their protection is on and how many devices are linked. Their browsing, their messages and the list of what got blocked are not collected, so there is nothing for us to show you.

More on how the family plan works, including exactly what a guardian can and cannot see, on the family page.

Account and billing

Managing your membership. Subscriptions are handled on the web, not in the app — cancel in one click from your settings, any time. The shield keeps running either way; it is free and it stays free.

Refunds. Email us within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund, no questions asked. Details in the refund policy.

Deleting your account. Start it yourself at nurguard.com/delete-account, or email us from your account address and we will remove your data per the privacy policy.

Still stuck, or struggling with more than the app

Email [email protected] with your account email and what you are seeing. We reply within one to two business days — that is a real person, not a bot, and it is the honest speed rather than the one that would sound better here.

If you are having thoughts of ending your life or hurting yourself, please talk to someone tonight. We keep a list of free, confidential helplines, including Muslim organisations, at nurguard.com/crisis. If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.

NurGuard is operated by Rizq Labs AI LLC (Florida, USA). Read our privacy policy and terms of service.
