Why network-level filtering works best
Traditional content blockers work inside a single app — usually a browser. But harmful content can reach your devices through any app, any browser, or even embedded web views inside social media. The shield works at the network level, stopping harmful sites before they ever load on your device.
Step 1: Put the shield up
NurGuard Shield comes pre-configured with Islamic values in mind. Categories like adult content and gambling are always blocked, with optional filtering for dating sites, interest-based finance, and social media. Install the app, sign in, and follow the guided activation — the shield sets up your device's protection for you, with no network settings to get wrong.
Step 2: Cover each surface — and know what each one covers
Protection matters most where the temptation lives: the personal phone first. On iPhone and Android the app filters the whole device — every app, every browser on it. On a Windows PC, Mac, or Linux machine, the NurGuard extension guards Chrome and Edge; it covers the browser it's installed in, not the whole computer, so install it in each browser the family uses. Home routers aren't supported. The household plan covers your whole family under one membership.
Step 3: Make it a daily practice
Once it's on, the shield needs no daily upkeep — though no filter is impossible to switch off, which is why tamper alerts tell your accountability partner if it ever goes quiet. The daily side of NurGuard — streaks, lessons, accountability — lives alongside it, and the Niyyah Gate adds a mindful pause on the time-wasting apps you choose, so you open them with intention instead of on autopilot.
What gets blocked?
NurGuard maintains curated blocklists updated regularly. Core categories (adult content, gambling) are always blocked. You can toggle additional categories like dating apps, alcohol/drug content, and social media.
